Hello USA

ny nashville new orleansMy boyfriend and I have always dreamed of visiting America. As a jazz and blues musician he has always had a yearning to travel to the place where the music was born. It’s a trip we’ve been thinking about and planning for a long time, so it’s very exciting to have actually booked the flights.  We’ll be spending two weeks in America in May. We’ll be visiting Nashville and New Orleans where we’re hoping to enjoy some good music and good food, and then New York where I’m hoping to meet up with clients, publishers and my agent. If anyone has any recommendations for any of the three cities I’d love to hear them!

  1. I took a weekend trip to New Orleans last summer. One must-do is to visit the Columns Hotel in the Garden District neighborhood. It’s this gorgeous old mansion that’s been turned into a hotel, and non-guests are welcome to check it out. The bar serves really great drinks and there’s a great, huge front patio that feels like a true Southern experience. Plus it’s on St. Charles Ave, which is a ridiculously lovely street. I’d also suggest walking around Magazine St in the same neighborhood. It has great shops, and it has nice architecture too. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Bourbon Street- it’s got a big reputation for partying (I went for a bachelorette party). It was fun, but it’s not everybody’s scene. Hope you have a great time on your trip!
