As an illustrator Christmas in July isn’t really anything unusual, there is really no time of the year when I’m not working on something Christmas related.
I very excited when I was invited to the White Company Christmas press day and spotted a certain name on the invite. I’ve been a fan of Helen Musselwhite’s work for a while so I was really looking forward to seeing her work up close and meeting the lovely lady herself.
Not surprisingly The White Company created a distinctly white Christmas showcase. Forget red and green, Christmas 2013 is all about white, subtle greys, metallics and just a hint of berry red. A colour palette which was perfectly utilised by Helen’s cut paper illustrations. Her illustrations just defy belief, they are so beautiful and so magical, twinkling and glowing with tiny led tea lights nestled inside delicate cocktail glasses. All through the day the beautifully appointed kitchen churned out fresh cakes, bakes and treats. The cheese straws were to die for, as were the carrot biscuits (which I’m planning to try making myself), as well as the usual gingerbread men and mince pies. Yum yum.The thing that most captured my imagination, aside from the heavenly food, was The White Company’s own range of wrapping paper, which is almost to beautiful to wrap presents with! There is so many beautiful arts and craft projects you could do with this pretty paper. My favourites were the metallic chevrons and hand block printed patterns on handmade paper.
Thank you to The White Company for the lovely day, and all the fab Christmas inspiration!
